Ordinariness

Web Design

Programs:

Figma, Illustrator

This project explores ordinariness — not as something boring, but as the quiet systems that shape how we live, see, and interact with the world.
What feels neutral or simple in design is never truly neutral; it is always the result of choices that influence behavior, taste, and everyday habits.

Each entry looks at a different context where ordinariness appears:
repetition and structure (Orderliness), intentional simplicity (Restraint), modernist neutrality (Neutrality), habitual interaction (Ease), and visual background (Invisibility).

Rather than representing ordinariness through abstract graphics, I chose to work within familiar digital interfaces — Google Docs, Sheets, Slides, and other everyday tools. These interfaces already feel invisible because we use them constantly. By building the project inside them, the format itself becomes part of the argument.

The project begins with Bliss, the Windows XP wallpaper, and unfolds through a series of scrollable “windows.” Scrolling, clicking, and navigating become ordinary gestures that mirror the content itself.
In the end, this project is about noticing what we usually overlook — the grids, systems, and interfaces that quietly organize everyday life.
