Scale Shift

Description

Last summer, I volunteered at Hus Oyanga school in Mongolia, teaching art to underprivileged students.

This experience healed me through my interactions with the children and the breathtaking natural landscape. The panoramic views of green fields and fresh air were mesmerizing.
I captured every moment with my camera and iphone, resulting in over a thousand photos. Upon returning home, I realized the vastness of Mongolia was beyond what a single image could convey. Above all, the scale I was familiar with in Seoul or Los Angeles was completely thrown off. The human presence felt tiny against the expansive land.

To preserve my memories, I curated a selection of photos into an archive that reflects my experience. I created a moving presentation that flows in all directions, mirroring the endless landscape I encountered. The views felt infinite, with no clear beginning or end, so the video screen does not have a clear starting page nor the ending, just like the land itself.
